Leigh Halfpenny’s debut for French giants Toulon is to be delayed once again because of a groin injury.

The British and Irish Lions star still hasn’t appeared for the Stade Mayol outfit as the French Top 14 enters it’s fifth round of matches.

Halfpenny’s last competitive outing was against England at Twickenham during the Six Nations, when he dislocated his shoulder making a thunderous try-saving tackle on Luther Burrell.

Since then the 25-year-old has been struggling with a groin injury but two weeks ago Halfpenny hinted that he could be available for this weekend’s match against Stade Francais – it was not to be.

It was confirmed in the French press this week that Halfpenny’s groin will keep him on the sideline for at least another week. It’s now over six months since the prolific goalkicker’s last competitive match.
